EAGLE GROVE - The Estherville Lincoln Central cross-country girls and boys teams both finished seventh at the Eagle Grove 'Dick Bell' Invitational on Tuesday.
Lee Christensen paced the ELC boys as he finished the 5-kilometer course in 17 minutes, 11 seconds. Nic Peters wasn't far behind as he placed 17th in 17:37.
"Nic ran an outstanding race only 26 seconds behind Lee," said ELC coach Tina Burton.
Tristan Fales placed 36th in 18:59 while Kelly Clabaugh placed 47th in 20:15 and Easton Gifford placed 51st in 21:03.
Also Drew Condon placed 52nd in 21:37 and Evan Drew placed 58th in 22:40. There were 59 runners in the race.
Rachel Bates paced the ELC girls team as she finished 23rd in 17:26.
"Rachel ran a good race, but she started too far back," said Burton, who said her teammates also were boxed in early in the race.
Heather Natterstad placed 40th in 18:22 while Brianna Enerson placed 42nd in 18:37, Taylor Karels placed 43rd in 18:39 and Hallie Jensen placed 44th in 18:41.
Also Colleen Humble placed 47th in 18:51 and Cayli Newton placed 54th in 20:36. There were 57 runners in the race.
In the junior varsity girls' race, Hannah Newton placed 18th in 20:18, Melissa Gruwell placed 23rd in 20:38, Emilee Olson placed 34th in 21:17, Emily Slaughter placed 70th in 26:34, Maddie Moore placed 761st in 26:48 and Maria Jose Rodriguez placed 73rd in 27:04.
In the junior varsity boys' race, Alex Miller placed 61st in 22:13, Dorde Komlen placed 73rd in 22:38 and Isaac Jorgenson placed 89th in 23:30.
ELC travels to the Lakes Conference meet on Tuesday at Cherokee.
