Christensen, Peters earn all-conference honors

CHEROKEE - A young Estherville Lincoln Central boys' cross country team gave the Midgets one of its higher finishes at the Lakes Conference meet than the Midgets have seen in recent years.

Sophomores Lee Christensen and Nic Peters both earned all-conference honors to lead ELC to a sixth-place finish with 128 points in Tuesday's event.

Christensen placed fourth in 17 minutes, 10.83 seconds while Peters placed 10th in 17:52.10.

"Both boys ran well and attacked and put themselves in a good position early," said ELC coach Tina Burton.

The top 14 runners earn all-conference honors.

Spencer senior Ryan Bauermeister was the individual conference champ beating the field by 30 seconds in 16:12.90.

Storm Lake senior Fernando Ramos edged Spirit Lake's Tanner Goetsch for second place, 16:42.00 to 16:42.33.

Rounding out ELC's scoring, Tristan Fales placed 28th in 18:57.88. ELC's final two runners placed 42nd and 44th to complete the team score.
