ESTHERVILLE - Funeral services for Catherine Allis, 73, of Estherville will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville with Pastor Travis Rosinger officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Interment will be at East Side Memorial Cemetery in Estherville.

She died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Catherine A. Allis, the daughter of Glen and Leona (Clare) Anderson, was born July 26, 1940, in Estherville.

She received her education in the St. Joseph Academy in St. Paul, Minn. Catherine then attended Iowa Lakes Community College and Buena Vista University, receiving her teaching degree at the age of 62.

On May 18, 1960, she was united in marriage to Paul Allis in St. Paul. She worked as a teachers aide in Rosemount, Minn; Estherville Christian School; Bethany Christian High School, Mt. Lake, Minn; and student taught at Emmetsburg Catholic School and West Bend Catholic School. Catherine home-schooled her grandchildren for over 10 years. She loved to read, sew and teach.

She was a member of Calvary Gospel Assembly in Estherville.

Left to cherish Catherine's memory is her husband, Paul, of Estherville; three children, Stephen (Vickie) Allis of Graettinger, Amanda Schubert and Kimberly (Paul) Hageman, all of Estherville; three grandchildren, Kyle (Brianna) Schubert, Koby and Krystal Schubert and one on the way - Bethany Catherine Hageman; two brothers, Edward (Dee) Anderson of Shakopee, Minn. and Lester "Thomas" (Joann) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; brother-in-law, John Maher; aunt, Mary (Marvin) Wilberg of Amery, Wis.; uncles, Bob Clare of Platteville, Wis. and Bill (Maxine) Mahin of Escondito, Calif. and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Preceding Catherine in death are her parents; brother, Michael Anderson; sister, Esther Ellen Maher and also by an infant sister.
