Seven Titans earn all-district honors

Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire's successful season resulted in postseason honors for seven of the team's players. The Titans finished 2013 with a 7-4 record overall and 5-2 in Class 8-Man District 2.

Seniors Kyle Dalen and Matt McGrauth, juniors Cody Thompson and Mason McGrauth and sophomore Michael Girres all earned all-district honors. Senior Ethan Petersen and sophomore Alex Hoffman both received honorable mention all-district.

In district play, Dalen carried the ball 117 times for 290 yards and nine touchdowns-his longest a 60-yard run. He also caught seven passes for 56 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, he snagged three interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns. He also punted 23 times for 840 yards, an average of 36.5 yards per punt. He also had 53 tackles in district play.

Matt McGrauth made his mark on defense with 34 tackles including one for a loss and one sack.

Girres was 12-of-22 passing in district play with three touchdowns and one interception. He also ran the ball 37 times for 289 yards and three touchdowns, including a 65-yard score. He caught two passes for 15 yards. Defensively, he had 18 tackles with two sacks. He also recovered a fumble.

Thompson had 24 tackles on defense.

Mason McGrauth carried the ball 73 times for 509 yards and five touchdowns in district play. He also caught two passes for 33 yards. Defensively, he had 52 tackles with four for a loss.

Petersen caught four passes for 43 yards and kicked five converted five extra points. He also had 21 tackles and one interception. He kicked off four times for a total of 181 yards.

Hoffman caught nine passes for 45 yards, but he made his mark on defense where he had 53 tackles in district play. He also recovered two fumbles.

Academic

all-district honors

GT/RA players earning academic all-district honors with a 3.5 to 4.0 grade point average were Taylor Enderson, Cole Hagedorn, Jared Sikora, Andy Geelan, Nick Josephson, Noah Stukey, Tyler Hoffman, Kyle Dalen and Garrett Parker.

Earning honorable mention academic all-district honors with a 3.25 to 2.49 GPA were Mason McGrauth, Kyle Long, Alex Hoffman, Michael Girres, Cody Thompson and Ethan Petersen.
