If word hasn't gotten out yet, it should. The Black Knights Car Club of Estherville has done an incredible amount to help local organizations and persons in need.
A recent compilation shows the Black Knights as an organization have given $9,650 to 58 worthy groups and individuals.
Here are just a few of the groups that have benefitted:
n ELC Youth Wrestling.
n Estherville Community Christmas Project.
n Dunnell Fire Department.
n Wallingford Fire Department.
n Shayla Bee Fund.
n Estherville Halloween Association.
n Friends of the Estherville Public Library.
n Estherville VFW.
n Iowa Lakes Community College scholarships.
n Girl Scouts.
n City of Gruver.
n Terril Fire Department.
n Estherville Fire Department.
n Northwest Iowa Community College scholarship.
On top of that, dozens of persons have benefitted.
Most recently, the black Knights pledged a $10 donation for each member as of Dec. 31, 2013, resulting in $1,060 to the Estherville Fire Department for a new truck. They would like to challenge other clubs and organizations to a similar challenge to pledge $10 per member.
The Black Knights are always looking for new members - anyone who loves antique or classic cars. You don't have to own one. You just need to love them.
Meetings are 7 p.m. the first Tuesday of every month at the Estherville Post 3388 VFW trophy room.
