ELC advances eight wrestlers to districts

Midgets win sectional by a point

SPIRIT LAKE - Three Estherville Lincoln Central won sectional championship and five more placed second as the Midgets advanced eight wrestlers to next week's Class 2A District Meet in Sheldon.

Oh. And the Midgets won the Class 2A Sectional at Spirit Lake on Saturday to advance to the team dual postseason competition on Tuesday. The pairings will be posted at the Iowa High School Athletic Association website at www.iahsaa.org.

ELC edged Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley in the team standings by a point-208 to 207. Spirit Lake Park finished third with 187 points, Sioux Central and Western Christian/Unity Christian tied for fourth with 94 points and Sheldon/South O'Brien finished sixth with 91 points.

Taking first at sectionals for ELC were Oscar Ramirez (132), Jake Bortvit (182) and Chase Bonner (220). Placing second were Zackary Snyder (106), Juan Castro (113), Myles McDonald (126), Brenden Duer (138) and Blake Gjerde (152).

Other ELC wrestlers competing on Saturday include: Easton Gifford (120), Cole Budach (145) and Amed Castro (285) placed third. Kelly Clabaugh (160) placed fourth and Austin Egeland (195) placed sixth.

Spirit Lake Park advanced six wrestlers to sectionals. Gavin Kramer (120), Zach Skopec (145) and Kenten Murray (152) all won their brackets while David Trucksess (160), Jacob Jenness (185) and Hunter Jacobs (285) placed second.
