ARMSTRONG - The North Union boys wrapped up the regular season with losses to West Bend-Mallard, 88-74, last Friday, Feb. 7 and to Lake Mills, 77-43, on Tuesday.
North Union led West Bend-Mallard 21-18 after one quarter and 43-39 at halftime. But the Wolverines surged ahead in the third quarter to take a 65-62 lead to start the final period, where the visitors out-scored the hosts 23-12.
Alex Krantz led North Union with 22 points, including 6-of-13 from 3-point range. Aric Runge had 20 points, 10 rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. Jacob Braddock and Colin Runksmeier each had 12 points while Trent Pedersen and Corey Vaske each had three and Kaleb Olson had two. Olson also had five rebounds and five assists. Runksmeier had four steals.
Lake Mills never trailed on Tuesday after a big first half. The Bulldogs led 25-8 after one quarter and 45-17 by halftime.
Runge led the Warriors with 10 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots. Krantz had eight points and four rebounds. Braddock had four points, Nathan Eaton and Olson each had three and Braden Ortman, Vaske and Eythan Blair each had two points.
North Union (4-18 overall) opens 1A postseason play against Corwith-Wesley-Luverne at Buffalo Center on Monday.
