STORM LAKE - The Estherville Lincoln Central boys came away with one top finish and several good performances at the Lakes Conference Indoor Meet at Buena Vista University on Tuesday.
"I thought we had a good run for our first meet," said ELC coach Dick Barrett. "We had some career-best times based on previous performances from last year. The team still has to work to do to prepare for the outdoor season."
Senior Joe Heinrichs won the 1600-meter run in 4 minutes, 52.48 seconds to lead the field by 3 seconds. Sophomore Lee Christensen wasn't far behind as he finished third in 4:55.33.

Junior Rod Fuller also competed in the event, finishing seventh in 5:10.35.
The trio also ran well in the 800-meter run with Heinrichs placing third in 2:07.66, Christensen placing fifth in 2:12.93 and Fuller placing seventh in 2:15.01.
Another notable performance was by Justin Heinrichs, who placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.14 seconds.
Junior Chase Bonner finished fourth in the shot put with a toss of 45 feet, 2 /12 inches.
Placing fifth were the 4x400-meter relay team of Justin Heinrichs, Kyle DeVary, Carsten Bosch and Avery Hansen as they finished in 3:49.54.
The 4x800-meter relay team of Tristan Fales, Joel McCoy, Evan Drew and Cody Davis finished fifth in 10:05.70.
Freshman Trevor Shryock placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.74 seconds.
In the long jump, sophomore Dan Christensen finished seventh with a leap of 18 feet, 8 inches.
The Midgets open the outdoor season at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 1 in Emmetsburg.
