Titans take control against Mavs

TERRIL - Graettinger-Terril picked up its second win of the season with a 7-2 victory over Clay Central-Everly on Friday.

The Titans led 2-0 when they put together a four-run third inning. Morgan McGrauth had an RBI single while Lauren Flaharty came up with an RBI double and two runs scored on a hit by Alana Rhem.

GT/RA added a run in the fourth inning when Brooke Hoffman reached base, went to second and third on passed balls and scored on a single by Maddy Norris.

CC-E got one run in the top of the fifth and another in seventh, but the Titans held on for the win.

Taylor Park earned the win as she struck out two and walked one.

At the plate, Norris was 2-2 while Jordan, McGrauth, Flaharty and Rhem each were 1-3.

On Thursday, the Titans lost 7-0 to Laurens-Marathon. Taylor Park took the loss as she gave up seven runs on eight hits with five strikeouts and six walks.

The Titans finished with four hits as Brooke Hoffman went 2-4 with two stolen bases. Lauren Flaharty and Park each went 1-3.

A busy week for the GT/RA

On Wednesday, the Titans hit the ball well, but could only muster one run in a 3-1 loss to Storm Lake St. Mary's.

Taylor Park took the loss as she gave up four runs on three hits with one strikeout and one walk.

The Titans finished with nine hits with Morgan McGrauth going 3-4 with a double and Daisy Jordan going 2-4 with a double. Sara Harris was 2-3 while Park was 1-3 and Maddy Norris was 1-4.

On Monday, GT/RA split with Harris-Lake Park. The Titans led 5-4 when the wheels fell off in the fifth inning defensively as the Wolves scored 11 runs. Taylor Park took the loss as she gave up nine runs on nine hits with one strikeout and three walks. Maddy Norris pitched a third of an inning and gave up five runs on three hits with one strikeout and two walks.

The Titans had just six hits. Morgan McGrauth was 2-2 with three RBIs while Sara Harris was 2-3 with an RBI, Brooke Hoffman was 1-3 with an RBI and Daisy Jordan was 1-3.

In the second game, the Titans took a 6-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings and then held on for the victory. Brooke Hoffman pitched 3 1/3 innings in getting the win. She gave up four earned runs on no hits with one strikeout and eight walks. Park pitched two innings and gave up no runs and four hits with two strikeouts and one walk. Sara Harris pitched an inning and two-thirds. She gave up one run on two hits with one strikeout and two walks.

The Titans had eight hits with Norris going 3-4. Jordan was 2-4 while Lauren Flaharty and Park each were 1-3 and Morgan McGrauth was 1-4.
