Tigers too much for Warriors

SPENCER - The North Union Baseball Team fell to 5-8 on the season with a 14-4, five-inning loss to Spencer on Thursday.

The Warriors managed just four hits off Spencer starter Jake Kluender with all four of the visitor's runs coming in the top of the fifth inning.

Parker Oleson led off with a single and Logan Hellman reached on an error. Two outs later, North Union was at the top of the order. Cody Runksmeier was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Colin Runksmeier's single scored two runs. After a single by Spencer Ricke, Corey Vaske's singled in two more runs, before Spencer finally forced a groundout to end the game.

Cody Runksmeier took the loss for North Union. In 2 1/3 innings he gave up 10 runs (five earned) with two strikeouts and one walk. Braden Ortman closed out the game and gave up four earned runs on five hits with one strikeout and one walk.

Colin Runksmeier, Ricke, Vaske and Oleson had the only hits for North Union.

Warriors fall to Newman Catholic

MASON CITY - North Union came up on the short side of a 6-2 score against Newman Catholic on Tuesday.

Ales Krantz took the loss. He pitched seven innings and gave up six runs (three earned) on 11 hits with five strikeouts and five walks. Colin Runksmeier, Parker Oleson and Logan Hellman each had two hits for the Warriors.

Warriors defeat Sioux Central

BANCROFT - Cody Runksmeier struck out 10 batters and pitched a complete game as North Union defeated Sioux Central 6-2 on Friday, June 6.

Runksmeier gave up two earned runs-one in the first inning and one in the fifth-while giving up four hits and two walks.

North Union finished with seven hits in the contest and secured the win with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Logan Hellman was hit by a pitch and stole second, scoring on a hit by Carter Engelby. After a single by Runksmeier, Spencer Ricke came up with an RBI. With runners at the corners, Runksmeier scored on a double steal.

Colin Runksmeier finished 2-3 while Cody Runksmeier was 2-4. Engelby was 1-1 with an RBI while Ricke was 1-3 with an RBI and Alex Krantz was 1-4 with an RBI.
