MANSON - For the second straight game, North Union's bats were kept mostly silent in a 2-1 loss to Manson Northwest Webster on Thursday.

The Warriors managed just two against a trio of Cougar pitchers-Braden Moser, Christian Whitehill and Dylan Samuelson.

North Union's one run came off Samuelson in the top of the fourth inning. Logan Hellman drew a leadoff walk and Braden Ortman was hit by a pitch with one out. With Ryan Larson at the plate, the Warriors came up with a double steal. After Larson grounded out, Hellman was able to score when Cody Runksmeier drew a walk.

Cody Runksmeier and Spencer Ricke accounted for the Warriors' hits, both coming off Moser in the first inning.

Both of MNW's runs came after a leadoff error in the bottom of the first and third innings.

Colin Runksmeier pitched six innings in the loss, striking out two batters and giving up five hits with no walks.

North Union finishes the season with an 11-16 record overall. The Warriors travel to Alta to play Storm Lake St. Mary's in a Class 1A District 3 first-round game. Game time is 5 p.m. The winner will return to Alta on Thursday for a game against Newell/Fonda, Clay Central-Everly or Alta-Aurelia.
