EFD expects truck next week

August 1, 2014
Estherville News

On Friday, the Estherville Fire Department entered into a agreement to purchase a 1994 Ford heavy rescue truck from Command Fire Apparatus of Lancaster Penn.

Estherville Fire Chief Dick Beaver said they expect delivery next Saturday or Sunday, Aug. 12-13.

"This is a very nice unit and we believe it will be a real asset to the department, the community and surrounding area," said Beaver. "This will give us the capability to carry all of our equipment in the unit. Estherville Fire would like to thank the community and surrounding area for all the assistance and support we received."

The chief said the fund drive for the truck is still on.

"We are still looking to purchase some much needed equipment to go on the truck," he said. "But again thanks to all, we have cleared the largest part of the hurdle and are moving in the right direction to provide a better service to all and be able to do it much safer for all involved."
