Tuesday, 4-H?kids from every Emmet County group brought their best work to be judged by the community's volunteer experts.

Static judging took place at Skateland in the Emmet County Fairgrounds, and local kids put their best creations on display in hopes of earning top marks for their efforts.

After baking the pies, sewing the garments, growing the plants, painting the canvas, refinishing the furnishings, checking the facts, completing the posters, editing the photos, and inventing something completely new that wasn't here before, 4-H members approached the tables and explained their processes to those who decided their projects' fates.

Outstanding exhibit, state fair considered, and blue, red and white ribbons were all possibilities.

The end product is important, but the process of creating the work was equally vital as judges asked questions and listened to the creators as they explained their thought processes, their rationales for their decisions, and the struggles they had in completing the projects.

The Emmet County Fair starts today and continues through Sunday. Static exhibits will be on display throughout the fair.
