Marsheila "Lolly" Thiesen, age 59 of Northfield, Minn., passed away Tuesday morning, Aug. 1, 2017, in an automobile accident in Webster Township, Rice County, Minn.

Marsheila Rae Mooney Thiesen was born Aug. 14, 1957, in Syracuse, Neb., to William H. and Lillian (Holtzen) Mooney. She was raised in Goodland, Kan., until moving with her family to Estherville. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1975 and attended Iowa Lakes Community College. On May 6, 1978, Lolly married Michael R. Thiesen at Trinity Lutheran Church in Estherville. Over the years they have made their home in Estherville, Council Bluffs, Cedar Falls, Mason City, New Ulm, Minn., Spokane, Wash., Shakopee, Minn., and Northfield. Lolly spent most of her working career in banking and was most recently working for Hiawathaland in Northfield.

Lolly was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and a former member of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake. She is the former choir director at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Spokane and at one time sang with the Sweet Adeline's. She was a talented musician and could play the piano, guitar, flute and sing. She enjoyed travel, reading, camping, antiquing and most of all spending time with her family and grandchildren. She had a contagious smile and a distinctive laugh.

Survivors include her husband, Michael; her children, Brandi (John) Hoff of Nine Mile Falls, Wash., Brent (Kimberly) of Leander, Texas, Ryan (Natalie) of Elko, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Tristen, Keira, Garrett, Kaylee, Luke, Mikko, McKenna; three sisters, Hazel Schaefer of Phoenix, Suzette Petersen of Wahpeton, Adrienne (Chuck) Nehring of Louisbourg, Kan.; one brother, Warren (Lucy) Mooney of Wall Lake; her sisters-in-law, Rhonda (Mike) Bonk of Truman, Minn., Candy (Doug) Slatton of Denison, Texas; her brothers-in-law, Jan (Tara) Thiesen of Balbriggan, Ireland, Jeff (Linda) Thiesen of Milford; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Douglas Mooney.

Services were 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Church, 1321 North Avenue, Northfield. Visitation wasbe 4-7 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at Bethel Lutheran Church and continued on Saturday one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to - Select Heart Program - List Lolly Thiesen as the Tribute, or the donor's choice.

Arrangements are with the Bierman Funeral Home.
