A Celebration of Life for Ronald Carlson, 85, of Estherville, will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at the United Methodist Church in Estherville with Pastor Cory Allard officiating. Graveside services will be 12:15 p.m., Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at North Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Spencer with military honors by VFW Post 3388. He died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2017, at Pearl Valley in Estherville.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 12, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Ronald Edwin Carlson, the son of Frederick Gustof and Eleanor T. (Petersen) Carlson, was born May 29, 1932, in Spencer.

He graduated from Spencer High School on May 22, 1949. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the area.

In 1953, he was united in marriage to Norma Jipson in Chokio, Minnesota. They lived in the Spencer area where he was engaged in farming. He enjoyed attending auctions in a 50 mile radius. He was united in marriage to Barbara Dahlke Edwards in 1992. The couple made their home in Estherville.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church and Farm Bureau.

Left to cherish Ronald's memory are his wife, Barbara J. Carlson of Estherville; his children, Steven (Yumi) Carlson of Livermore, Calif., Kay (Mark Anderson) Carlson of Portland, Ore., Lori (Juan) Doran of Austin, Texas, Jill (Bill Calhoun) Carlson of Bloomsburg, Penn., Mike (Luda) Carlson of Ames; step-children, Don (Paula) Edwards, Pam (Bryan) Morisch, Bob Edwards all of Estherville; 10 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren mother-in-law, Marie Dahlke of Estherville and brother, Lowell Carlson of Dickens, Iowa.

He has been preceded in death by an infant son, Wayne Carlson; his parents; brother, Irwin Carlson; sister-in-law, LaVonne Carlson and brother-in-law, Daniel Petersen.
