Funeral services for Gene R. Yackle, 81, of Dolliver, will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, Minn., with Pastor Anthony Christoffels officiating. Interment will be at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Dolliver. He died Jan. 18, 2018, at the Fairmont Medical Center in Fairmont, Minn.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Gene R. Yackle the son of George and Maude (Mooney) Yackle was born Nov. 21, 1936, south of Dolliver, Iowa, in Lincoln Township.

He received his education in Dolliver school, graduating from Dolliver High School in 1954. Gene served in the National Guard for four years.

On July 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Lois Zwiefel at the United Methodist Church in Dolliver. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Dolliver. Lois passed away on May 27, 2008. Gene continued to farm after her passing. Gene married Annette (Herum) Wenzel on June 6, 2009 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Gene retired from farming in 2012.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Ceylon.

Left to cherish Gene's memory is his wife, Annette of Ceylon; his children, Randy Yackle of Fairmont; Debra Yackle of Fairmont and Kelly Yackle of Cordova, Illinois; his stepchildren, Dean Wenzel of Ceylon, Darlene (Gary) Holmseth of Blue Earth, Steve Wenzel of Mankato, and Kent (Renee) Wenzel of Mankato; seven step-grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Shirley O'Sell of Dolliver; special friends, Jenny (Hunt) Blankenship and Matt Carney and their families.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Lois; his daughter, Deanne; his brothers, George, Howard, Floyd; and his sisters, Ruby Rowan, Thelma Calvin, Ardys Hatcher, LaRue Swipes, and Velda Johnson.
