Funeral services for Roger C. Moe, 90, of Estherville will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville with Pastor Randy James officiating. Interment will be at East Side Cemetery, Estherville, with military rites by VFW Post 3388 of Estherville. He passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Avera McKennan Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday, March 25, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Roger C Moe, son of Carl and Alma (Erickson) Moe, was born on Dec. 23, 1927, in Garretson, S.D., on the farm.

Roger graduated from Garretson High School in 1945. In January of 1946, he entered the United States Marine Corp. After serving his country he returned to his hometown of Garretson and bought a portable feed grinder and did custom grinding for farmers in the area. He was married to Rachel Grange in Luverne, Minn., on Sept. 24. 1949. After the blizzard of 1951 in Garretson, he had "enough of that!" Roger then attended Oklahoma A&M and obtained his Diesel Technician Degree. He went to work for International Harvester for about eight years, before joining Dakota Iron. In 1964, he and the family moved to Estherville to be in the middle of the Dakota Iron sales territory. He owned Dairy Queen in Estherville for 15 years.

Roger was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville, where he was on church council and a Sunday School teacher. Roger was a life member of the VFW and the American Legion. In his free time, Roger enjoyed golfing.

Roger is survived by his children Roderick D. (Sandra) Moe of Florida, Rolly C. Moe of New York, Mark S. Moe of Montana, Marilyn S. (Darwin) Olesen of Graettinger, and Carolyn A. Moe of Estherville; five grandchildren Bradley (Steffani) Moe, Heather (Robb) Sherrod, Valerie (Sean) Sherk, Brian (Natashia) Olesen, and Anne (Tom) Netsch; five great grandchildren, Emersyn and Aubrey Moe; Trevor and Abigail Sherrod; Chelsea Sherk and his brother Willard E. Moe of Garretson.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, an infant brother Richard, a brother Stanley, and a sister Dorothy Lahr.
