Midgets travel to Ames for a track meet

AMES - A handful of Estherville Central athletes attended the Ames High School Jim Duea Invitational on Tuesday.

In the varsity results, ELC garnered just two team points against all 4A schools.

Morgan White finished seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15 feet, 3 inches.

Many of ELC's contingent competed in the junior varsity events as the Midgets scored 41 points.

ELC's 4x100-meter relay team of Natalie Lausen, Jordyn Moore, Morgan White and Riley Christoffer finished second in 53.63 seconds. The same quartet finished third in the 4x200-meter relay in 1:56.15.

ELC's 4x400-meter relay team of Hannah Olson, Nevaeh Armstrong, Adrienne Rosfjord and Karley Hanson finished fourth in 4:31.91.

Bailey Spiegeler placed fourth in the 100-meter dash in 14.18 seconds.

The shuttle hurdle relay team of Vanessa Woelber, Brooke Vermeys, Emma Stevens and Bri Vermeys finished fifth in 1:17.76.

The 4x800-meter relay team of Armstrong, Hanson, Kylie Quastad and Rosfjord finished sixth in 11:14.48.

Taylor Morris finished eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:50.07. Alyna Astello just missed medaling, as she placed ninth in 2:51.14 in the 800.

Brooke Vermeys placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles in 19.10 seconds.
