Funeral services for Marlyn Fry, 73, of Gruver, will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, rural Gruver with Pastor Randy James officiating. Interment will be at High Lake Cemetery, rural Wallingford. He passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2018, at Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Friday at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville.

Marlyn Ray Fry, the son of Ray and Pearl (Aanonson) Fry, was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Estherville.

He received his education and graduated from Ringsted High School in 1964. He attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa and then to Fargo, N.D. for Diesel Mechanic School.

On Feb. 24, 1973, he was united in marriage to Pamela Sue Friesner in Estherville. The couple began farming and Marlyn continued to farm for many years. In 2001, he started his own trucking company called M&M Trucking.

He was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church south of Gruver.

Left to cherish Marlyn's memory are his daughters Michelle Griffis and her son, Owen of Rochester, Minn.; Melanie Fry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sister, Joleen Schieffer and her husband, Frank of Omaha, Neb.; nephews, Rock, Randall and Ryan Fry and his uncle, Orin (Sharon) Aanonson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Roger.
