The first pilot to touch down at Estherville Airport for the 70th Estherville Flight Breakfast. Wednesday morning was Jerry Thatcher of West Bend.

Thatcher, along with Mike Thatcher and Allen Kramer, took off from Algona airport in Thatcher's 72 Cessna and were the first to pick up tickets for the free breakfast for pilots.

Thatcher, 78, asked, "Do I win a prize for being earliest?"

Dr. David Robison and his wife, Shelly, of Spencer, flew in around 8:15 a.m. Dr. Robison is a member of Experimental Aircraft Association No. 999 of Spencer. David and Shelly both have their pilots' licenses.

The early part of the morning provided cool breezes and slightly overcast skies for the pilots who flew in.

Dan and Melissa Lutat provided parking direction on horseback for the land aficionados who drove instead of flying in.

Dozens of volunteers served pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausages and beverages.
