#LincolnStrong and #PrayersforLincoln are two of the hashtags that have trended in Emmet County and beyond since rising Estherville Lincoln Central High School senior wrestler Lincoln Coakley was in a car accident June 25. Coakley was life-flighted to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester where he spent several weeks improving as he had surgery for his injuries and therapies for his brain injury. Late last month he moved to On With Life, a brain injury rehab center in Ankeny, where he continues his recovery.

Athletes, parents, and others involved in wrestling say the sport creates a family atmosphere. This became evident as area school wrestling teams and clubs organized Saturday's benefit supper and auction for Coakley and his family raised around $48,000.

Graettinger-Terril-Ruthven-Ayrshire, Spirit Lake Park, North Union, Okoboji, Emmetsburg, Spencer, and ELC collaborated, and donations of auction items began to arrive. The Estherville Elks Club donated the use of its building for the event.

Saturday night, a free-will supper of pork loin sandwiches, chips, beans and cake, and a silent auction preceded a live auction with Mike Clarken as auctioneer.

Organizers expressed their thanks to the broad community that came together to make the event possible.
