70 rescue personnel respond to report of suicidal individual at Ingham Lake

Wallingford Fire & Emergency Medical Services was paged to 4538 230th Street Wallingford, for stand-by regarding a welfare check on a possible suicidal person.

On arrival with the Emmet County Sheriff's Department, a vehicle was located at the scene with an empty liquor a pill bottle. Due to the nature of the incident, and situation more help was called to assist with a land and water search.

Estherville Police Department K9 Max was called and assisted in the search, Max and his handler Officer Reineke walked area shorelines and timber areas and tried to locate any victims that were involved in this incident.

@ 7:11 AM, The Estherville Fire Department was requested for mutual aid and their water rescue boats.

@ 7:27 AM, the Arnolds Park/Okoboji Dive and Water Team was paged to the scene along with South Central MN Dive Team, they also have sonar technology to assist in finding victims involved in water rescue situations.

@ 8:43 AM, Gruver Fire Department was paged to assist with the search and assist setting up a staging area for other needed resources.

Search teams were deployed fire fighters walked area shorelines, timber areas, checked houses and buildings around Ingham Lake, and Ingham Lake Estates. Fire Fighters also checked Wolden Park Campground, Ingham Lake Bible Camp, and Forest Ridge. Emmet County Sheriff's deputies were also checking nearby farm places, residences and other locations. Estherville Fire Department deployed two water rescue boats; Emmet County Conservation also deployed their boat to help with the search. Iowa DNR also responded with a boat and sonar capabilities. A boat also was deployed in Cunningham Slough near Ingham Lake to search that area. ATVS also were used to assist in the search and transport fire fighters and EMTS that were searching.

At 10:30 AM, fire fighters completed a second ground search of the Ingham Lake area.

During this incident an investigation was conducted by Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens and his deputies. Approximately 1:05 PM Incident Command was advised by Emmet County Sheriff Mike Martens that the person that we were searching for was located and accounted for, the search then was ended and volunteers and other resources were cleared the scene.

Area volunteer fire fighters, EMT's, search and rescue team members and law enforcement officers were on scene for (7) hours.
