Forest City rallies to win

FOREST CITY - North Union's 3-1 lead didn't last long against Forest City on Friday. The Warriors had just take the lead with three runs in the top of the fifth inning. However, the host Indians responded with eight runs in the bottom of the fifth and then scored four in the sixth for a 13-3, six-inning victory.

Noah Morphew pitched 4 2/3 innings, giving up nine runs (four earned) on 10 hits with five strikeouts and one walk.

Elliott Hagebock pitched a third of an inning and gave up two hits. Kegan Boland also pitched a third of an inning, giving up four earned runs on no hits with two walks.

North Union (5-13 overall, 5-11 in the Top of Iowa West Conference) is at Pocahontas today, and then hosts Northwood-Kensett on Tuesday and Manson-Northwest Webster on Wednesday.

NU holds off GHV

BANCROFT - The North Union baseball team had to hold off a furious rally by visiting Garner-Hayfield/Ventura before securing a 10-8 victory on Wednesday.

The Warriors led 10-2 entering the seventh, as the Cardinals plated six runs before the final out.

Braden Pierce pitched six innings in the win, giving up five runs (four earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Parker Eichenberger came in for two-thirds of an inning and gave up four unearned runs on one hit with two strikeouts and two walks. Kegan Boland closed out the game and gave up a hit.

The Warriors had six hits on the night with Pierce going 2-4 with three RBIs while Noah Morphew was 1-4 with an RBI and Boland was 1-3 with an RBI. Jay Heinen was 1-4 and Avery Krantz was 1-2.

The Warriors were aggressive on the base paths with Eichenberger stealing three bags and Brendan Anderson with two.
