Event will be broadcast on Mediacom Channel 3, Facebook, and KILR radio

While the coronavirus has halted services at churches, people of faith have found other ways to worship.

The Estherville Area Ministerial Association, a organization of area pastors and their churches, will host an ecumenical Good Friday Worship Service at the United Methodist Church at 6:30 p.m., this Friday.

"We invite everyone to join us for the online service of the Good Friday service," said Pastor Cole McCormick of Trinity Lutheran, who is in charge of the service.

Only support staff will be present at the service, but residents may join it live streamed on the United Methodist Facebook page and can be viewed on the Mediacom Channel 3 Roll-up TV station. It will also be broadcast on KILR 95.9 FM radio. Several churches are participating and the service can be viewed after the fact.

United Methodist Pastor Kevin Moore is giving the message.

Pastor McCormick said Trinity Lutheran has continued to work through these troubled times.

He conducts services on Sundays that are broadcast over Facebook. Devotional emails are also sent to parishioners throughout the week.

"We've also had Bible studies and coffee fellowships over Zoom," he said.

Of people helping each other in the community, McCormick said he's heard of many checking on others by phone.

"Also I've heard those who don't make use of technology are doing more so now," he said.
