ELC student-athletes test positive for COVID-19

June 29, 2020
Estherville News

The Estherville Lincoln Central School District released a statement Friday that said two student athletes, one a junior varsity/varsity softball player and one a freshman baseball player with the ELC teams have tested positive for COVID-19.

The family of the athletes made the teams aware of the positive test results on Friday, June 26. The teams were made aware that testing took place earlier in the week and the athletes began their quarantine immediately upon notification they were in primary contact of another positive case. The athletes have not returned to practice and laboratory results confirmed the athletes tested positive for COVID-19.

ELC softball junior varsity and varsity players will be under a 14 day quarantine period consistent with the CDC guidelines and public health recommendations for primary contact with another COVID-19 positive individual. Quarantined players may return on Thursday, July 9. Freshman softball will not return to play for this year.

ELC baseball will be able to continue play with some players under a 14 day quarantine period consistent with the CDC guidelines and public health recommendations for primary contact with another COVID-19 positive individual. Quarantined players may return on Wednesday, July 8

With respect for the family and athletes' privacy, no additional details will be provided.
