Lou Ann Thomsen March 8, 1930 – Feb. 24, 2017

Lou Ann Thomsen, 86, passed away Feb. 24, 2017 at her home. Cremation. Celebration of Life will be held in the Worship and Life Center of Cedar Lake Village at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 8, 2017. Inurnment in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Ringsted, at a later date.

Lou Ann was born March 8, 1930 in Estherville to Bernice J. (Yeager) and Robert S. Lee. Lou Ann married Axel Thomsen on Aug. 11, 1953. They resided on the farm near Ringsted, where they cared for livestock, farmed the land and raised a family. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed square dancing and round dances for over 30 years. They moved to Olathe in 2013. After their move, she felt like she was truly retired and became active in the photography club, exercise classes and other activities at Cedar Lake Village. Lou Ann loved connecting with nature by taking long walks and watching birds; sipping coffee and traveling. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Axel, daughter Linda Lee Thomsen, infant son Martin Eric Thomsen; step brother Douglas Grinde. Lou Ann is survived by daughter Jane Margaret Scaro and Don of Edgerton, KS; Laura LuAnn Thomsen of Overland Park, KS; and many dear friends.
