ELC holiday break could be extended – Time is needed for remodeling

By Staff | Dec 6, 2007

ESTHERVILLE–Due to remodeling necessitated by the new construction project within the Estherville Lincoln Central School District, the school board will be asked at its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to consider extending the length of the upcoming Christmas vacation by two days.

Superintendent Dick Magnuson said the board’s approval would be necessary before the change could be made to the school calendar. The remodeling is planned for the high school and Demoney Elementary.

The change in time is needed to remove the asbestos floor tile from classrooms which will be remodeled.

If granted, the staff and students would resume classes on Monday, Jan. 7, 2008.

Magnuson said the two days would then be tacked on at the end of this current school year in May 2008.

“They will be added the same way snow days are,” he said.
