Wallingford fire handled quickly – Source was ‘heat shroud’ on tractor parked in building

WALLINGFORD–The Wallingford Fire Department was paged to the Farmers Co-op in Wallingford at 2:13 p.m. Tuesday. It was reported there was smoke coming out of a building across the road from the elevator.

According to Wallingford fire chief Jarrod Fischer, fire units arrived shortly after the page, Wallingford firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The source of the fire was a “heat shroud” on a tractor which was parked in the building. There was no further damage done to the building. The fire was close to the building.

No injuries were reported and firefighters were on scene for about 45 minutes.

The Estherville Fire Department was paged as a precaution.

Assisting the Wallingford Fire Department were the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department, Emmet County Emergency Management and Wallingford First Responders.
