ESTHERVILLE–Emmet County is in for a real treat when Glenn Henriksen and friends, featuring a star-studded cast, will present A Night in December at 5 p.m. Sunday at Roosevelt Auditorium in Estherville.

In addition to Henriksen’s vast holiday repertoire of piano and organ selections, performances will feature the Many Voices Choir, Millie Kittelson, the Senn Men, Algona Cornbelt Barbershop Chorus, Steve Bradburn, Dee McDonald and Denise Leal of Cornerstone, Galaxy Band, Kathy Pierce, Billie James, Jose Garza, Arnold Paulson, Dennis Wienke, Randy Yackle, Kim Godtland, Barb and Brett Fuelberth, Billy Hansen, Anita Larson, Peyton Oleson and DeeAnn Bates.

A free-will offering will be taken with proceeds going to the Estherville Area Ministerial Community Fund.

“It’s pretty much holiday music,” Henriksen said of the concert. In its fifth year, the concert was moved up this year since Christmas Eve and Christmas fall on Monday and Tuesday.

“The idea was to give back to the community a sense of the idea of Christmas,” Henriksen said as the reason the holiday concert first began.

In another sense, the concert is a celebration of our area’s burgeoning musical community.

“I have met so many musicians through the course of my years of playing,” Henriksen said. “That’s where the idea of ‘and friends’ came from.”

Henriksen studied music and music theory at Luther College and has recorded several CDs. He’s a staple with the Many Voices Choir for which he’s served as accompanist since 2000.
