2008 Lifestyle Challenge just around the corner

By Staff | Dec 20, 2007

To begin second week of January

ESTHERVILLE –Monday, Jan. 9, is the target start date for the Life Challenge at the Regional Wellness Center.

This challenge focuses on increasing physical activity and promoting healthy weight loss in Emmet County. Teams compete against each other to encourage extra efforts.

Education is provided to participants at each check-in by health professionals. Classes are available each month to provide extra support information.

There have been a few changes to the program this year. Teams will consist of four members. Another change is that each person will be charged $10 to participate in the entire program. This is because the Harkin Wellness Grant has been expended.

“We are preparing for another successful and exciting year for the Lifestyle Challenge. We hope to see previous participants back and will welcome new faces!” said Jen Hough, community relations manager at Avera Holy Family.

Weigh-ins in Estherville are scheduled for 7 a.m.-6 p.m. at the Regional Wellness Center. The Armstrong Lifestyle Challenge weigh in will be held from 7:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11, at the Armstrong-Ringsted School. Access will be made available at the west activity center door.

To register, call Hough, (712) 362-6479.
