Spirit Lake City Council OK’s property donation
SPIRIT LAKE–The Spirit Lake City Council on Tuesday night held a public hearing and approved a resolution to donate property to the Lakes Community Land Trust.
The property is located at 2302 Hill Ave., about two blocks south of downtown Spirit Lake.
Under the arrangement, Lakes Community Land Trust will use the property as part of a development of the Old Town area. By holding title to the land, Lakes Community Land Trust will be able to develop and sell housing at affordable prices.
In other business, the council made annual appointments of the city administrator and treasurer and continued committee assignments.
Jeff Thee was welcomed as the new council member. Blain Andera, the new mayor, was unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting but will appoint the chief of police and city attorney and assistants at the next meeting.
Joyce Waddell reviewed the 2008 property and casualty insurance.
The council deferred an amendment to the developer’s agreement of Country Acres Estates.
