City of Armstrong sets goals – Council discussion held on Monday

ARMSTRONG–The Armstrong City Council set goals for the city at its regular meeting Monday night.

Among the short- and long-range goals within the next one to two years are:

n Tree trimming and removal.

n Renovation of the bathhouse at the city pool by June 1.

n Recodifying city ordinances.

n Determining the city’s contribution to the assisted living addition at Valley Vue Care Center.

n Replacing or adding a pickup to the maintenance department.

n Developing incentives for purchasing lots in South Suburban Estates.

n Improvements at the Columbian Boulevard Park.

n Painting the old water tower by the water plant by summer 2009.

The council also approved contributions of $667 to Upper Des Moines Opportunity and $150 to Northwest Iowa Alcoholism and Drug Treatment Unit.

The council also learned that the annual budget will have to be amended at the February meeting to accommodate the storm sewer project which carries an estimated cost of $330,000.

Contractor Craig Steinman of Wesley will be repairing the Community Center roof.
