Varcoe working to make a clearer world for others

ESTHERVILLE–So do you have a pair of eyeglasses sitting in a cupboard or in a dresser that you just don’t use anymore?

Maybe you don’t like the style or the prescription is out of date or the frame is broken.

Well, someone can use them.

Becky Varcoe, LPN at the Estherville Good Samaritan Center, is collecting eyeglasses for the needy both in the United States and abroad. She hopes by May 1 to collect a good number of eyeglasses for distribution.

While she began the project at Good Sam, she’s decided to open it up to the entire community. The eyeglasses will be donated to the Lions Club or to Sister Patrick Murphy at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Even if frames are broken, lenses can be refitted into new frames. However, lenses should be as free of scratches as possible.

Glasses may be taken or sent to the Estherville Good Samaritan Center at 1645 Fifth Ave. N. in Estherville.
