Library has much to offer -Statistics released
Did you realize that the Estherville Public Library circulated 46,060 items last year?
Or did you realize there were 41,491 hits on the library Web site?
Or maybe you didn’t realize that computers were used in the library for 12,431 hours?
Those are just a few of the statistics released at the annual meeting of the Estherville Public Library Board Tuesday in the Community Meeting Room.
Following are some other items of interest:
n A total of 437 registrations were processed.
n There were 1,989 books processed.
n The library had a total of 14,903 computer users.
n There were 243 meetings held in the Community Room for a total of 541 hours.
In other business coming before the Library Board, which met jointly with the Emmet County Board of Supervisors, Director of Library Services Carolyn Walz said $16,000 was budgeted for books for the next budget year.
The board also:
n Approved Margaret Gebel’s request for rural residency.
n Heard a report from Walz on leakage from around a fan that damaged ceiling tiles. The library will ask the city council for a budget amendment to make necessary repairs.
n Walz said public services have done an excellent job of reaching out to the community.

Memberships are $2.50 yearly for students or senior citizens, $5 for individuals, or $7.50 for families. It’s just $25 to become a Children’s Summer Reading Program Sponsor, $35 to be a Channel 3 Sponsor, $25 to be a sponsoring business or organization, or $50 to be a newsletter sponsor.
