2007 construction – 59 building permits total over $13 million

A total of 59 building permits were issued in 2007 for an estimated combined value of $13,289,630.

Released to Estherville City Council Monday night by Estherville Development Director Barb Mack, the statistics show only two permits were issued for newly constructed homes at a total estimated value of $265,000.

The lion’s share of the total estimated amount, $10,999,900 was for the new school addition at Demoney Elementary.

Other data breaks down as shown with the number of permits followed by the estimate value:

Residential Structures

n Houses (moved into the city), 1, $30,000.

n Three-unit condo/townhouse, 1, $400,000.

n Residential additions, 3, $261,980.

n Residential accessory building, 1, $200.

n Garages, 5, $24,000.

n Garage additions, 3, $8,000.

n Carports, 4, $3,950.

Non-Residential Structures

n Nursing home addition, 1, $787,000.

n Office building, 1, $106,000.

n Commercial addition, 6, $210,600.

n Industrial additional, 1, $103,000.

n Communications tower, 1, $90,000.

In comparison, the 2007 total of $13,289,630 nearly doubles the 2006 total of $6,917,615 when 70 permits were issued.
