GRAETTINGER–Two Graettinger residents were severely cut with knife during an altercation outside a Graettinger bar on Feb. 10.

Palo Alto Sheriff Dennis Goerders said at approximately 2:06 a.m., his department was called to the Side Street Saloon to investigate an assault.

Deputies found Monty Schany, 47, and Travis Schany, 29, who both were severely cut with a knife while in an altercation outside the establishment.

Both Schany men were transported to the Palo Alto County Hospital and were later transferred to the Spencer Hospital.

Through their investigation, deputies found an abandoned van at 402 S. Washington St., which led them to 402 S. Wilson St.

Goerders said deputies detained two individuals at that residence. They later arrested the pair, Matthew Davis, 25, and Theodore Hampson, 42, both of Graettinger on charges of willful injury with a weapon, a Class C felony.

The two were transported to the Palo Alto County Jail where they were housed to await their initial appearance before a judge. An investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
