Five Estherville Lincoln Central Drill Team members will perform this Saturday night with the All Iowa Honor Drill Team at the Iowa Girls Basketball championship in Des Moines.

The team members are under director of Advisors Sandy Fandel and Kayla Helget.

Amy Fay will perform in the pre-game activities at both the Friday and Saturday night games and later with the group of 276 dancers performing during the halftime of the 3A championship game Saturday night.

The other girls performing are Malissa Origer, Rachel Juhl, Beth Christensen, and Laura Fandel.

Nancy Fandel said the girls were to leave after school Thursday and have two full days of practice Friday and Saturday.

“It’s a lot of dancing,” Fandel said. “They’ll be tired, I’m sure. It’s all worth it, though. It’s an honor to be chosen.”

This is the fourth, straight year that Juhl will have performed with the All Iowa Honor Drill Team. She said over 500 girls tried out last Sept. 8-9 for the team.

“It takes a lot of practice,” Juhl said. “It’s the best of the best.”

The game starts at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on KPTH Fox 44 from Sioux City.
