The Friends of Fort Defiance produced this brochure with a grant from Emmet County Community Foundation.

The Friends of Fort Defiance have published a brochure promoting the park.

The brochure, funded by a grant from the Emmet County Community Foundation, describes the park’s natural plants, animals, and School Section Creek Valley as well as the lodge and camping facilities that are available.

Debbie Wilson, graphic design associate professor at Iowa Lakes Community College, volunteered her time to lay out the brochure. Photos were provided by Alan Gage and Dave Kaltved and Ron Leffel of Estherville Printing donated a portion of the production cost.

The brochures are available at the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce, area hotels, restaurants, and other businesses or by writing to: Friends of Fort Defiance, P.O. Box 314, Estherville, IA 51334. Annual memberships to the Friends of Fort Defiance, at a cost of only $5 for individuals and $10 for families, may also be sent to the above address.

The lodge is available for rent for day events such as birthdays, anniversaries, family reunions, and weddings. If you have a special event for which you would like to reserve the lodge, be sure to make reservations several months in advance.

To reserve the lodge call 1-877-427-2757 or go online to www.reserveiaparks.com.

The next meeting of the Friends of Fort Defiance will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 21 in the Estherville Public Library Community Room.
