Fridley Theatres lowers movie prices

By Staff | Mar 25, 2008

The ominous black economic cloud hanging overhead does have a silver lining and it matches the silver screens at Grand 3 Theatres in Estherville.

Starting Friday, March 28, movie admissions prices are going down!

The news is refreshing as consumers are engulfed with escalating gas, milk, egg, meat prices as the economy is darkening recession’s doorway.

“This is the new low regular price of admission,” said an elated Donna Handeland, manager for the past 18 years. “And we will continue to get the first run movies as we always have.”

Starting this weekend, adult admission is $4, senior citizens, 60 and older, $2 and children, 3-12, $2. All 2 p.m. matinee seating on Saturday and Sunday is priced at $2 per person.

Handeland believes the company wants to make going to the movies a more affordable form of entertainment. “Fridley Theatres continues to be family oriented.”

She cannot recall admission prices being lowered at any other time in her years on the job.

“We’re excited to pass on this savings to movie goers,” Handeland said, adding, “We’ve been told we have the best popcorn and the most comfortable rocking theatre chairs anywhere in the area.”
