Two search warrants were executed by the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department Friday at 808 Sixth Avenue South for firearms and drugs.

Sheriff Larry Lamack said one of his deputies was serving a Temporary Protective Order from domestic abuse situation on the occupant at 808 Sixth Avenue South when it was discovered that there were firearms at the residence and the occupant was a convicted felon.

As a result of the search warrant, Jason Summers, 35, was charged with possession of firearms as a felon, a Class D felony, possession of marijuana (third offense) an aggravated misdemeanor and possession of drug paraphernalia, simple misdemeanor.

Based on information gathered, the sheriff’s department obtained a search warrant for firearms from the Emmet County magistrate and the residence located at 808 Sixth Avenue South was searched for firearms.

During the search, the deputies did find four rifles, six shotguns, one .357 revolver and ammunition. During the search for firearms and ammunition, law officers found drug paraphernalia which prompted them to get a second search warrant for drugs and drug paraphernalia.

Continuing their search after the second search was obtained, deputies did find more drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
