L’Ecole La Danse, the area’s longest-established dance studio, celebrates the performance of its 31st annual recital Sunday at the Emmetsburg Middle School Auditorium. Performances will be at 2 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

This year’s recital, “The Beat Goes On”, features senior dancers making their final recital performances: Jessica Smith, Tracy Fay, Malissa Origer, Beth Christensen, Caitlin Paulsen, and Rachel Juhl. Dancers ages 3-18 from Emmetsburg, Estherville, Spirit Lake, Spencer, Ruthven, Wallingford, Terril, Dolliver, Ringsted, Armstrong, and Graettinger are featured.

L’Ecole La Danse was founded November 1977 by Denise Patin of Estherville.

“When I opened in 1977, I was one of six teachers in the entire state with a degree in dance,” Patin said. “The majority of dance teachers in the state still do not have college degrees or even professional performing experience. I pursued a dance degree because I wanted to bring the best in dance education back to northwest Iowa. The awards that our competition students have achieved throughout the years reflect that this has been accomplished.”

The two shows will have slightly different routines. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $7 for ages 5 and up.
