County sheriff’s department responded to 77 calls in March
March was a fairly busy month for the Emmet County Sheriff’s Department with a total of 77 calls for service. Those calls included five assaults, one domestic assault and one theft complaint.
According to Emmet County Sheriff Larry Lamack, the department also executed three search warrants for firearms, drugs and drug paraphernalia. As a result of those search warrants, firearms, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were confiscated and three individuals were charged with various drug and weapon charges.
The good news was that despite some bad weather in March there were only three accidents reported and no injuries.
The department participated in another STEP activity and a total of 94 citations were including: speeding, 57; unsafe passing, 1; stop sign, 1; no insurance, 2; seat belt, 2; driving under suspension, 1; operation without registration, 1; open container, 2; possession of alcohol under legal age, 2; possession of tobacco as a minor, 1; assault charges, 5; felon in possession of firearms, 1; domestic assault, 1; possession of marijuana, 3; possession of drug paraphernalia, 3; and other miscellaneous.
The Emmet County Jail processed 27 prisoners and made six transports to other facilities for three adults and three juveniles.
Civil work for the month include 22 arrest warrants, 24 garnishments and 60 small claim notices.
