ESTHERVILLE — The leadership committee of Excel! Estherville – a wide-ranging community strategic plan focused on enhancing the quality of life in the northwest Iowa community – is inviting the public to a special event regarding its campaign to raise $100,000 in 100 days.

The event will be held at noon on Wednesday, April 30 in Library Square in downtown Estherville.

It is anticipated the event will last about 15 minutes.

The $100,000 in 100 Days Campaign was undertaken to provide start-up funding for Excel! Estherville activities and initiatives.

“We invite everyone who believes in Estherville and its hopes for a prosperous future to take a few minutes to attend this important event,” said leadership committee member and Estherville Mayor Lyle Hevern. “We will also be announcing a new initiative to further engage our community in the Excel! Estherville roadmap to success.”

Contributions to the campaign are still being accepted and should be directed to the attention of Excel! Estherville.

They can be mailed to or dropped off at the Estherville Area Chamber of Commerce at 620 1st Avenue South. Personal contributions will be processed as a tax deductible donation through the Estherville Community Betterment Fund, which is a fund established through the Emmet County Foundation.

The Excel! Estherville strategic plan includes eight overarching goals and more than 30 specific strategies.

It was developed over a several month period during 2007 drawing on a wide range of community input such a personal interviews, an on-line community survey and a plan development working group.
