ISU Extension Day Camps set for summer

By Staff | May 3, 2008

Summer + Day + Camp = Fun to the Nth degree.

The Emmet County Extension Office is pleased to announce the schedule of ISU Extension Day Camps open to all area youth in Kindergarten through eighth grade.

“This is offered to youth in the entire county and we have given information to students in Estherville, Armstrong, Ringsted, Graettinger and Terril,” said Marcy Sander, ISU Extension Emmet County youth coordinator.

“It is a way to have fun this summer while parents are at work. Youth can enjoy educational, hands-on activities with their friends while they have fun learning.”

The camps are scheduled for Thursday on the following dates: May 29; June 5, 12, 19, 26; July 3, 10, 17; and Aug. 7. The last week of July is skipped because of the Emmet County Fair.

Sander said each day camp will held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Locations will vary and each camp is designated by grade completed during the 2007-08 school year.

“There is limited space so we encourage early registration,” she said. All participants must be registered by Thursday, May 15.

Each camp includes craft-making, snacks, games, experiments using science and math. Campers will take advantage of the free lunch program offered by the Estherville Lincoln Central Community School District.

“We are excited to offer these fun and educational day camps to kids in the community this summer,” she said.
