Aquila upgrading natural gas system
Aquila is currently working on a $183,000 natural gas system upgrade in Estherville as part of a system improvement project for the community, a community official said Tuesday.
“We are replacing older natural gas pipelines to ensure continued safe and reliable service for the community,” said Bob Faulker, operations supervisor for Aquila. “This project is part of an ongoing service commitment to our Estherville customers.”
Construction for 2008 is schedule to start in early June and be finished in about eight weeks.
Aquila will replace 2,000 feet of gas main and individual service pipelines.
All of the 2008 construction will take place on Central Avenue from Second Street to Eighth Street. The new main will be installed on the south side of the street and there will be lane closures with this project. Each customer that will be affected by the construction has been sent a letter.
Aquila serves approximately 2,740 natural gas customers in Estherville and has served this community since 1952. Aquila’s state headquarters is in West Des Moines. The company serves 147,700 gas customers throughout Iowa.
