County amends budget
The Emmet County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a $129,936 current-year budget amendment.
The extra money was needed to cover expenses in county mental health, the communications center, court services, public health, and $60,000 for a law center roof. Part of the amendment also included grant money to public health.
Sheriff Larry Lamack presented the dispatchers’ union contract which the board approved. The contract calls for an additional 25 cents per hour plus a 3.5 percent raise the first year and a 3.5 percent raise the year after. There is also an additional day for funeral leave.
In his road report, County Engineer Roger Patocka said crews were using the used lowboy trailer the county recently purchased. He said crews have also been working on driveways, tile, frost boils, and hauling gravel. Patocka said he was putting together requests for proposals for fuel.
The supervisors also approved health insurance rates for 2008-09. The single rae will increase from $371 to $382.90 for a 3 percent increase.
The board also approved a nickel increase to 45 cents a mile for mileage.
