Hand resigns as Iowa Lakes board president
Citing health reasons and other commitments, John Hand submitted his resignation as board member and president on the Board of Trustees of Iowa Lakes Community College effective June 15.
The board met in special session Tuesday morning to accept Hand’s resignation. Hand, who has served on the board for 20 years, two as president, represents Palo Alto County.
The board approved appointing Jack Tatman of Spirit Lake as interim board president effective June 16.
Tatman will serve until the board reorganizational meeting Oct. 21 when the board will elect another president. Jan Lund of Estherville will remain vice president.
The board will act on appointing a representative from Palo Alto County to the board at its May 24 meeting.
“John served well in his capacity as Board of Trustees president,” Lund said. “He served his community well. He did a fine job. He will be missed as a board member and president.”
“It was never about John,” said board member Bud Kyle. “It was about Iowa Lakes Community College.”
