Firemen to host Aug. 16 benefit
The Wallingford and Emergency Medical Services are setting their sights on Saturday, Aug. 16 as the day of the department’s Benefit Fundraiser.
The event will be held at the Wallingford Community Center from 5-7 p.m. as the firemen will be serving ribeye steak sandwiches along with potato salad, potato chips, baked beans and beverage.
Carryout will be available. Deliveries will be made in the Wallingford area only by calling 712-330-2839.
Adult meals are $7.50 with a $5 charge for children 10 and under.
“We hope to purchase additional fire and safety equipment with the proceeds from this benefit,” said Wallingford Fire Chief Jarrod Fischer.
An open house at the fire hall will coincide with the supper.
Later that evening, karaoke and raffle drawings will be held at The Pub. The raffle items include a quilt donated by Becky Peters of Wallingford and unique items contributed by area businesses.
“Firefighters are currently selling tickets for the raffle drawings. It is important that patrons know they do not need to be present to win,” Fischer said.
Tickets are $1 apiece, six for $5 and 15 for $10.
“This department I really appreciate the donations from businesses and individuals for our raffle. By securing enough funding from this event, we can make the necessary purchases for firefighting and lifesaving,” Fischer said.
