Graettinger plans 112th Labor Day Celebration

GRAETTINGER – The community of Graettinger will hold its 112th Labor Day Celebration with events starting Saturday morning Aug. 30.

Highlights of the day include the city wide garage sales starting at 8 a.m., an antique tractor pull at 10 a.m., carnival downtown starting at 1 p.m., a demolition derby at 4 p.m. and a street dance starting at 9 p.m. downtown.

Other Saturday activities include a kick ball tournament, golf tournament and softball tournament.

Sunday’s events include a continuation of the golf volleyball and softball tournaments.

FFA Fun Day activities start at 11 a.m. on Sunday as does the craft show at the senior center.

The carnival again opens at 1 p.m. with an ATV Pull and ATV Mud Bog both at the demolition derby site at 1:30 p.m.

The highlight of the day comes with the variety show and queen contest in the high school gym.

Queen candidates are Malorie Schaller, Malorie Girres, Alex Rehm, Theresa Petersen and Liz Sparks.

The day concludes with a teen dance starting at 8 p.m. at the legion.

Monday’s activities begin with a 5K fun run/walk at 8 a.m. and Legion races at 9 a.m.

Boasting more than 150 entries, the parade begins at 1:45 p.m.

The day also includes the final day of the carnival, with rides going before and after the parade.

Fun and games will begin at Fahnestock Park at 4 p.m. with a pair of cash raffle drawings at 7 p.m.
