Christensen Construction crew to appear on Extreme Makeover
Seven Christensen Construction employees from Estherville will find themselves as television stars in a few short weeks.
A volunteer crew from the company will be going to a yet-to-be-disclosed location in or near Albert Lea, Minn., to help build a roof for the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition television program. Extreme Makeover will knock on the front door and within nine days the current house will be demolished and a new one built on the same site.
The crew includes foreman Tony Gossman, Cliff Egeland, Dick Thornburg, Ralph Wilson, Jesse James, Connie Gossman and Brian DeVries.
Jim Fiedler of Larson Contracting, Inc., of Lake Mills is heading up the roofing phase of the project. Crews from six companies will install a Butler CEVSR standing seam roof system between 8 p.m. Friday and complete the project late Saturday afternoon. Butler is donating the materials for the project and all crews are donating their labor.
“I gave them a day to think about it,” Gossman said of the project.
So how do the guys on the crew feel about it?
“OK,” said Egeland. “It’s great to help somebody out.”
“If it’s good for people, it’s good for the company,” said James.
Gossman said the crew, along with workers from the five other companies, will work straight through on the roof from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. He said a total of 300 volunteers are involved.
